Greed in the Church

Preview: A cautionary lesson in regard to the monetary condition of the Church, and the Churches responsibility to the true Word of God over monetary gain.


Scripture Reading: Revelation 3:14-18.

Memory Verse: Job 21:13.

1. Discuss the condition of the last day Church as described in the Scripture Reading. Revelation 3:14-18.
2. What were the prophets doing just before the destruction of Israel? Ezekiel 22:25-28.
3. How did this affect the people? Ezekiel 22:7-12,  Ezekiel 22:29.
4. What was Israel’s condition just before their fall as a nation? Micah 3:9-11.
5. What was the result? Ezekiel 22:13-15, Micah 3:12.
6. What was God’s description of the watchmen (Church leaders)? Isaiah 56:10-11.
7. What kind of religion does this kind of leadership produce? Isaiah 58:2-5, Psalm 78:34-37.
Note: When leaders (Church or national) become too concerned with financial gain they will compromise their message.
8. What was Paul’s instruction to Timothy concerning this matter? I Timothy 3:1, I Timothy 3:3, I Timothy 3:8.
9. What did he tell Titus? Titus 1:7.
10. What did Peter say about money? I Peter 5:2-3.
Note: God’s ministers should not have to be fundraisers. God instructed His people to pay tithes (which is our honest debt), send them to the storehouse (Church headquarters), and give offerings cheerfully and willingly, so then the needs are met.
11. How can we know this is true? Philippians 4:19.
Note: If we truly believe this we will be about the Father’s business and trust Him to provide the needed finances.
