The Transgressor's Reward: Part 1 of 2

Preview: Our actions have consequences. This is the first of a two-part lesson on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Jude 1:3-13.

Memory Verse: II Peter 3:17.

1. Discuss the spiritual condition and warning presented in the Scripture Reading and Memory Verse.
2. How did sin and death enter into the world? Romans 5:12 & Romans 6:23.
3. Where do we find the first death warning given? Genesis 2:15-17.
Note: Before Adam and Eve disobeyed God they knew no sickness or death. After they sinned, they experienced two kinds of death; spiritual (separation from God) which happened immediately, and physical death, which was not instantaneous.
4. How do we know there are two kinds of death? Matthew 10:28 & Luke 12:4-5.
5. What is one appointment that all humanity must keep? Hebrews 9:27 & Ecclesiastes 9:5.
6. What takes place at the Judgment? Revelation 20:11-13.
7. Who will experience this second death? Revelation 20:14-15 & Ezekiel 18:4 & Ezekiel 18:20.
8. What warning is given to the righteous? Ezekiel 18:5-9, Ezekiel 18:24, Ezekiel 18:26, Ezekiel 33:13 & Ezekiel 33:18.
Note: It is not enough to confess, repent, and be baptized. This is only the beginning of the journey. Never believe those who preach and teach that once you take that step you can never be lost regardless of how you live. May God have mercy on all those who teach or believe that. Read what Jesus Himself said in Matthew 10:22. Also, Matthew 24:13 tells us that those who endure to the end will be saved.
9. Is there hope for the wicked? Ezekiel 18:21-22, Ezekiel 18:27-28 & Ezekiel 33:14-16.
10. Does God have any pleasure in the physical or spiritual death of the wicked? Ezekiel 18:23 & Ezekiel 18:31-32.
Note: Many times we are prone to think that the wicked are those that commit acts that are far worse than the sins we commit. Not true: sin is sin in God’s eyes. When we transgress any of His Commandments, we go away from His will. God has prepared a way for all to be redeemed because all have sinned and need redemption. When we abide in Christ through faith and obedience, God forgives and restores our soul. The choice is ours to make. Our loving Heavenly Father is sad when we choose destruction rather than eternal life. So the transgressor’s reward will be everlasting destruction, unless they repent.
