Preview: This series of lessons is dedicated as an introduction to Jesus. This is the fourth in a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.

Pre-reading:
Luke 20:1-19, I John 5:7-21.

Scripture Reading:
I John 5:1-6.

Memory Verse:
I John 5:7.

1. What three entities make up the Godhead according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse?
Note:
Webster’s Dictionary defines Godhead as the same as Godhood, which is the state of “Being a God.” God is defined as being supernatural and immortal, a divine or supernatural being. We must concede that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could be referred to as God. All are divine, yet separate entities with one purpose of mind and mission.
2. Is there any excuse for ignorance concerning the Godhead? Explain. Acts 17:24-30.
3. How did Paul affirm this in his letter to the Church at Rome? Romans 1:15-20.
4. What causes us to be confused about the structure of the Godhead? Romans 1:21-23, Romans 1:28.
5. How did Paul address this subject to the Colossian Church? Colossians 2:6-10.
Note:
When the Holy Spirit reveals Christ to us, and we reject Him as the only way to the Heavenly Father, we become blind to His identity. If we accept Him as the only Mediator (Way) between man and God, we have accepted the total divine authority of Heaven and earth. We are complete in Him.
6. How did John explain the mission of Jesus? John 1:15-18.
7. How was this knowledge revealed to him? John 1:27-34.
Note:
God the Heavenly Father revealed to John (by the Holy Spirit) who Jesus was.
8. What affect did John’s witness have on Andrew? John 1:35-42.
Note: J
ohn witnessed to Andrew, who witnessed to his brother Peter. This is the great commission to all who know Him: Go into all the world with this Gospel!
9. Were the disciples of John confused as to who Jesus was when Jesus was baptizing His disciples (John 4:1-2)? John 3:22-26.
10. How did John explain the total power and authority of Jesus? John 3:27-36.
Note:
God sent His Son Jesus into the world with total power and authority to represent Him. In this sense He became God by Commission of the Father. He is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.
