Preview: Consecration means: to make or declare sacred or Holy; to set apart or devote to the service or worship of God; to be sincere. This is the first part of a two-part lesson on this subject. 


Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:1-16. 

Memory Verse: Philippians 2:5. 

1. Discuss how man is consecrated to God according to the foregoing Scriptures. 
2. What command did King Hezekiah make when he reestablished the worship of the Temple? II Chronicles 29:27-30. 
3. What was the purpose of the king’s command? II Chronicles 29:31-35. 
Note: The morning and the evening burnt offering, or the continual offering (according to Exodus 29:36-37, Exodus 29:42-43), symbolized the daily consecration of the people to the Lord. 
4. What sacrifices are required for our consecration today? Romans 12:1-2, Romans 6:11-13. 
5. What is the sacrifice of praise? Hebrews 13:15. 
6. What did Peter see a need for in the Church? I Peter 2:5. 
7. Who set the perfect example of consecration? Matthew 20:27-28. 
8. What was the position Jesus took when He was among His brethren? Luke 22:27. 
9. Who should we strive to be like? Philippians 2:4-5. 
10. Did the spirit of meekness and consecration dwell within our Savior? Discuss. Philippians 2:6-7. 
11. What was the climax of His humility? Philippians 2:8. 
Note: Christ became so humble that he accepted accusation, abuse, and crucifixion without resistance. Can we suffer for right? Do we have the mind of Christ within us? Let us be consecrated to God and His service. 
12. How can we know the children of God and the children of the evil one? Romans 8:9. 
13. How should those who profess to know Christ walk? I John 2:6. 
14. Who do we belong to? I Corinthians 6:19. 
15. What are we exhorted to do with our bodies and spirits? I Corinthians 6:20. 
Note: Our time, strength, breath, and means belong to God and should be used at all times to glorify Him. 
16. What is one willing and ready to do when he or she becomes truly consecrated to God? Psalm 123:2.
